Smart Service Plus Terms & Conditions

General: Hill & Company Service Inc. may modify these terms and conditions at anytime, including plan pricing. You will be notified of any changes prior to renewal, and those changes will take effect upon renewal of the plan. Hill & Company reserves the right to discontinue the plan and your coverage at anytime. If the plan is discontinued, Hill & Company’s liability will be restricted to completing any repairs covered by the plan that Hill & Company was notified of before the discontinuation, and any prorated amount left on the plan unless service provided under the plan has exceeded the purchase price. 

Coverage Period and Renewal: The term of the Smart Service Plan is one year from the date of enrollment. Coverage does not automatically renew unless specifically documented. Payment must be received within 10 days of expiration to insure continuing coverage.  Failure to renew within 10 days of expiration will result in the loss of all benefits including warranties that require the continuation of the plan. If you have opted for automatic renewal you must give Hill & Company written notice no later than 10 days after the renewal date that you do not wish to renew coverage.

Equipment Covered: Coverage is for residential style split systems or residential package units 5 tons or less. Coverageis as noted below.

Services Included

  • Priority customer status- we put you ahead of non smart service customers

  • Emergency service without overtime rates:  Cooling emergency-daytime temperature is above 80 degrees and there is not another operating air conditioner. Heating Emergency- The low is below 40 degrees and there is not another operating heater. Emergency service is provided 24 hours a day 365 days a year on a first come first serve basis.

  • Never pay a diagnostic charge if your system malfunctions: The plan does not pay for the cost of diagnostic when:  There is no problem found upon arrival, the unit has been turned off, the thermostat is not set correctly, the household  breaker has been tripped, failure due to lack of filter maintenance, or the problem has been previously diagnosed.

  • Lifetime warranty on most HVAC repairs: For as long as you maintain this service plan with Hill & Company most repairs made by Hill & Company will be warranted by Hill & Company until the system is replaced or a replacement part is no longer available at a commercially reasonable price.  Compressors, heat exchangers, evaporator and condenser coils, touch screen thermostats, and accessories such as humidifiers and air cleaners are excluded from the lifetime warranty (standard warranties will apply).

  • Receive a 10% discount on all repairs: Discounts on all HVAC as well as plumbing repairs. Does not apply to system replacement.

  • Annual cooling and heating maintenance: Maintenance will be scheduled based on availability during the coverage year.  Maintenance will be performed during a service call if seasonal maintenance has not yet been performed and depending on current demand. Hill & Company periodically sends reminders to schedule maintenance visits, but it is ultimately the customer’s responsibility to schedule their maintenance visits. Unused maintenance during the coverage year is non-refundable. Availability is limited during peak heating and cooling seasons.

Customers with New Systems: Customers that join the plan before a new system or component reaches one year old will receive a lifetime warranty against mechanical defect on most parts for as long as they continue to renew the plan. Compressors, heat exchangers, condenser and evaporator coils, and accessories are excluded, except that a labor warranty will remain in effect for as long as these parts have a factory warranty.  If the system was installed by Hill & Company LTD or Hill & Company Service, Inc. the system will also carry a lifetime warranty on workmanship.

Miscellaneous

  • If the plan is canceled prior to the renewal date any and all payments for the plan become due
  • If you move, the plan coverage in effect transfers to the new homeowner
  • Service and parts are only to be provided by Hill & Company. Hill & Company will not re-imburse for any part or service provided by another contractor, and any such service will void any existing warranties.
  • Damage due to vandalism, abuse, neglect, freezing, power outage, lightning, fire, animals, insects, or acts of god are not covered by any warranty.
  • Hill & Company is not liable for any delays in obtaining warranty part due to availability. Any additional shipping required to obtain warranty parts is the customer’s responsibility. Warranty repairs exclude any additional costs  required to make the repair, including, but not limited to lifting services or carpentry work
  • Cooling maintenance includes 1 pound of Freon. Additional Freon is charged at our Smart Service rates. There is no warranty on Freon. Hill & Company recommends a leak check if Freon is added to the system.
  • Filters are not included in this agreement. If the customer requests filters, every effort will be made to provide the correct size filters at the customer's cost. However due to the multitude of filter sizes and the nature of service dispatching, the service technician may not have the correct size filters on their truck. In this instance we can install cut-to-fit filter media at the customer's cost.
